Classic tales with a fun and dramatic twist! Every journey begins with a single step; and theatre is no exception! From the fresh-faced five year olds, newly bitten by the acting bug, with The Very Hungry Caterpillar to our seasoned and skilled teen students seeking to succeed at Shakespeare. Spring Quarter at Civic Academy highlights the journey and the friends we make along the way.

Spring Special: Spend the afternoon with Shakespeare by registering for both Silly Shakespeare! and Shakespeare: Soliloquies & Sonnets for $225

Primary: Ages 5 – 8
Beginner: Ages 7 – 10
Intermediate: Ages 10 – 14
Advanced: Ages 10 – 17

Introductory theatre class designed to get students moving and interacting! So much more than memorizing lines and speaking loudly, primary theatre explores literary readiness, taking turns, teamwork, confidence, and self awareness- all explored through the captivating tale of a caterpillar who is hungry for life.

A funny and playful mash-up homage that combines the cleverness of Seuss in an imaginative setting. With a focus on creative movement, body awareness, and wacky rhyming lines, beginner level students will work together to conquer outer-space and the stage.

Alice in Neverland Mondays 5:15 - 7:00 PM $175 Register

A reimagining of our beloved heroine finding herself not in the comforts of Wonderland, but rather the surprising and mystifying world of Neverland and those that call it home. Can Alice navigate this new adventure and keep her wits about her? This class has strong focus on characterization, physicality, and accent exploration.

Mixed level class: Ages 7 – 14, Beginner/Intermediate

Paddington Bear Tuesdays 3:45 - 5:10 PM $150 Register

It’s time for Paddington’s favorite spring activity…a picnic in the park! Join the charming bear cub and the Brown family as they spend a day enjoying each other’s company. Designed for beginner students, this class includes an introduction to pantomime and emoting, as well as simple blocking, cause and effect and collaboration.

The Velveteen Rabbit Tuesdays 5:15 - 7:00 PM $175 Register

The classic and heartwarming tale exploring what it means to be loved. Of all the toys in the nursery, Alex loves his rabbit best. But can their bond survive when Alex gets sick? A class for mixed levels, there are roles to challenge and engage students of varying skill.

Mixed level class: Ages 7 – 14, Beginner/Intermediate

Students will participate in Flattery & Insult battles, bounce balls to pentameter, recite Shakespearean nursery rhymes and more!

Mixed level class: Ages 10 – 17, Intermediate/Advanced

Civic Academy Cancellation Policy:

  • Two weeks or more before the first day of class: fully refundable
  • Less than two weeks before the first day of class: credit on account for future class
  • Week of the first day of class: no credits or refunds available
