A Message from Henry McNulty, Music Director of Spokane Civic Theatre.
Greetings from Civic! I hope everyone out there is holding up okay. These are trying times for all of us. But this too shall pass. We’re still here, and there is so much to look forward to.
To help remind ourselves of what really matters, we’re putting together a special cover version of the Broadway classic Seasons of Love, featuring the entire Civic Theatre community.
Here’s how it works. Sheet music as well as audio tracks for each vocal part are linked below – soprano, alto, tenor, and bass. The sheet music includes piano accompaniment, chord changes, and suggested instrumentation for any musicians wishing to join.
Video record yourself singing/playing your preferred part and send it to us through Facebook messenger, or to brianna@spokanecivictheatre.
You have up through next Monday, May 25, to submit your video.
This isn’t an audition; ALL qualifying submissions will be included!
In order to qualify, you must:
- stay in time with the track to the best of your ability (so that we can all fit together)
- submit your video in .mp4 or .mov format (cell phones should do this by default)
- film in a horizontal or “landscape” orientation (turn your phone on its side)
- wear clothing appropriate for a general audience
Even if you don’t read music, I suggest looking at the PDF for guidance and additional instructions. Playing the reference track through headphones or earbuds while recording will help you stay on the beat; pay attention to the metronome (the steady clicking sound) in the background! Feel free to send us any questions you might have.
I hope everyone has fun with this project. We can’t wait to see your work!
From all of us at Spokane Civic Theatre, take care of yourselves and stay strong.
This isn’t the end of the play. This is only intermission.
