Cast and creatives from The Wizard of Oz talk about Civic’s 75th season opener
Along with director Kathie Doyle-Lipe and music director Henry McNulty, actors Nicole Ostlie, Lacey Bohnet-Olson and Jameson Elton joined E.J. Iannelli in the SPR studio and performance space ahead of opening night for The Wizard of Oz at the Spokane Civic Theatre.
Ostlie, Bohnet-Olson and Elton play Dorothy, Glinda and the Scarecrow, respectively. Both Doyle-Lipe and Bohnet-Olson participated in the Civic’s last production of The Wizard of Oz exactly twenty-five years ago — the former as director/choreographer and the latter as an ensemble member.
Prior to the interview, Ostlie performed “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” with McNulty accompanying on piano. She and Elton—accompanied once again by McNulty—closed the interview with the duet “If I Only Had a Brain” followed by a quick coda of “We’re off to See the Wizard.”
The classic musical, which opens on Friday, September 16 and runs for a full month, marks the official start of the Civic’s historic 75th anniversary season.
