A Note From The Director
I have worked on stage and backstage with Spokane Civic Theatre since 1982 and for many years at Ignite! so it is wonderful to have these two companies work together for Booklight Readers Theatre. I Hate Hamlet is such fun. Any actor who has been cast in a Shakespearean play can relate to Andrew’s panic, but having the ghost of the greatest Hamlet ever to instruct you on “the ancient secret of the Hamlets” is a bonus… what can possibly go wrong?
Karen Brathovde, Director
Karen Brathovde (Director) is a retired high school Theatre and English teacher. Her favorite roles include Mrs. Tottendale in The Drowsy Chaperone, Helene Berman in Significant Other and Jane in Bloody Murder. Directing credits include See How They Run, Blithe Spirit, and for Playwrights’ Forum Festival. She serves as Secretary on Civic’s Board of Directors. My thanks to this amazing team of actors and techies and especially to the support of my husband Barry.
Nan Zorn (Stage Manager) is very excited to be working on an Ignite! production at Civic. Prior to COVID, she worked on many productions including Harvey, Is He Dead, Life Support, See How They Run and A Shayna Maidel. In addition to the above, she’s a member of Ignite!’s Board of Directors.
Tom Armitage (Producer) is a member of the Civic Board of Directors, and has acted, directed, and stage managed here since 1980. He has also conducted teen drama camps for the theatre for many years.
Adam Snow (Light Board Operator) is a detail-driven person with experience in various aspects of theater design. Favorite credits with Civic include Stage Manager for The Wolves, CATS, A Sherlock Carol and Alice by Heart, and backstage crew for An Enemy Of The People, and The Addams Family. “I’m thrilled to be collaborating with Ignite!”

Recently he worked backstage as Fly Coordinator for The Addams Family, Light Board Operator for An Enemy of the People, CATS, A Sherlock Carol, Alice by Heart, and Deck Chief for Jersey Boys (all with Civic) and Crew for Red (Stage Left). “I would like to thank my life partner Adam Snow and dear friend Sarah Dahmen for showing me the delight of collaboration and teamwork that is theatre.”
