Trevor Caragan (Billing) is excited to make his Spokane Civic Theatre debut and hopes you enjoy the show!
Matt Cardoza (Aslaksen) is excited to be back on the Civic stage after performing as ‘Red’ Barber in National Pastime. Other recent roles are Polonius in Hamlet / Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead (Spokane Shakespeare Society), Sepulveda in The Controversy of Valladolid (Stage Left Theater) and Lesgate in the Main Stage’s Dial “M” for Murder (Civic).
Rebecca Craven (Catherine Stockmann) This is her first time on the Civic stage since 2020, previously performing in Cabaret, Present Laughter, The Book of Will, Young Frankenstein, The Memory of Water and Mary Poppins. Her recent credits at other theaters include Jacques in As You Like It (Spokane Shakespeare Society), Amanda Davis in I Thought I Knew You, Female Greek Chorus in How I Learned to Drive and Beggar Woman in Sweeney Todd (all with Stage Left Theater). Offstage Rebecca enjoys spending time with her family and animals.
Thor Edgall (Dr. Thomas Stockmann) An ex-professional baseball player with the Detroit Tigers and a seasoned actor for many years. Thor’s theatre credits include To Kill A Mockingbird, in which he played Atticus Finch and received a Stage Scene LA award, The Rite performed at the Ingemar Bergman Festival in Sweden, Long Days Journey into Night, Arms and the Man, Hamlet, Fool for Love, Twelfth Night, The Country Girl and Bus Stop. He’s recently performed on the Civic stage in Plaza Suite, Native Gardens and Good People.
James Gallo (Peter Stockmann) earned his MFA in acting from UCLA. His favorite roles include Stage Manager in Our Town (Little Theater UCLA), Hortensio in The Taming of the Shrew (Ark Theater Company), Laertes in Hamlet (Theatricum Botanicum) and Eric in The Inspector Calls (Ivoryton Playhouse). “I’d like to thank my family for all their support!”
Cayla Hoke (Brina Stockmann) is excited to be making her Civic Theatre debut! A student at Gonzaga Prep, she enjoys playing piano and would like to thank Paige for being awesome. Her favorite roles are Taylor in The Play That Goes Wrong (Gonzaga Prep), Gayle and Deena in Almost, Maine, Sawyer in Miracle on 34th St. (both with TAC at the Lake) and Ensemble in Mean Girls (Gonzaga Prep).
Jon Jordan (Hovstad) is ‘thrilled to be thrilled’ to be back in the Civic Theatre’s black box with this incredibly talented group on the stage as well as behind it. His recent roles include Geoffrey in The Lion in Winter (Ignite! Community Theater), Jim Reston in Frost/Nixon (Civic), Nick in Over the River and Through the Woods (Lake City Playhouse) and Johann Killian Von Strack in Amadeus (Civic).
Liam Archer Lundberg (Morten Stockmann) keeps busy with voice, dance and acting lessons for over 10 years. His favorite credits include Puck in Midsummer Nights Dream (Shakespreare CDA) Duchess/Dodgy in Alice by Heart,Antipholus of Ephesus in The Comedy of Errors (both with Civic) and Tommy Djilas in The Music Man. Offstage Liam enjoys reading, long hikes, and swimming at the lake and traveling.
Maxwell Nightseter (Captain Horster) spends his time designing and selling tshirts through Teepublic and Redbubble. Working in a variety of performing and visual arts, Maxwell has performed Mozart’s Requiem at Carnegie Hall (New York) and worked on the television show Grimm as Sous Chef #1. Onstage favorite roles include Frank Lubey in All My Sons (Civic) and Swami Kree in Christmas at the Jupiter Tavern (Valley Repertory Theater).
Gary Pierce (Morten Kiil) is a veteran actor with a recent appearance in A Sherlock Carol, where he played Scrooge (again!). Other recent roles with Civic include A Christmas Carol (as Scrooge), It’s A Wonderful Life (as Potter), The Book of Will, Follies In Concert, and Mary Poppins. He trained at United States International University School of Performing Arts and was nominated for an AACTFest award for his performance of Zangara in Assassins. He also performed 11 seasons at Interplayers Professional Theatre and three seasons at Coeur d’Alene Summer Theatre. Gary would like to thank the cast and our two directors for their invaluable support in this production.
Melody Deatherage (Director) has a long association with Spokane Civic Theatre beginning with her first appearance as Titania in A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Directorial credits include last season’s Amadeus, and prior season’s The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, A Few Good Men, Kiss Me Kate, and Present Laughter. Melody loves to play in all genres from serious drama to high comedy. Recent appearances on Civic’s stages: 2024 Reader’s Theatre Series (Angels in America; POTUS) and Playwrights Forum Festival. She is excited to appear in the encore presentation of the hilarious POTUS on Sunday, November 3rd. Karen Brathovde (Stage Manager) retired after 35 years as a high school English and Theater teacher. Her favorite recent credits include stage manager for Photograph 51, Helene Berman in Significant Other, director and actor for Bryan Harnetiaux Playwrights Forum Festival (all with Civic) and director for See How They Run (Ignite! Community Theater). Karen currently serves as the secretary on Civic’s board of directors and was a former co-coordinator of the Inland Northwest Theatre Arts Festival. Outside of the arts she has two daughters and will be celebrating her 45th wedding anniversary with husband Barry on closing night!
Jake Schaefer (Producer) is a musician, theater-maker and, proudly, Civic’s Executive Director. His passion for collaborative creative work caught fire at a young age while studying music and performing at Civic. Jake moved to Los Angeles in 2005 to pursue a college education and career in show business. In 2010, he founded a music co-op called EMPHATIC which has since evolved into a recording and live production company. Jake and other EMPHATIC artists have contributed to recordings and live endeavors for artists including Beyoncé, Frank Ocean, LA Phil, Madonna, Ricky Martin, Rufus Wainwright, and Quincy Jones; commercial clients include Cirque du Soleil, Marc Jacobs, and Nike; favorite regional theater credits include Evita (director), It Must Be Him (original/LA workshop music director), and The Night of the Black Cat (original production workshop music director); consulting clients include Live Nation, The Nederlander Organization, and Universal Music Group. In October 2021, Jake worked on the grand opening of Seattle’s Climate Pledge Arena, supporting Coldplay concert opening act We Are KING. In addition to directing CATS, Alice by Heart, Follies in Concert, Jersey Boys, Young Frankenstein, and more, Jake has led Civic collaborations with Spokane Symphony (West Side Story) and Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture (Dressing The Abbey: The Costumes of Downton Abbey).
Peter Rossing (Scenic Design) first designed and painted for Civic with CATS and Carousel. He has designed sets for theater, opera, dance, and corporate events in Portland, Austin and traveling productions. Favorite projects included A View from the Bridge for Portland Repertory Theatre, The Importance of Being Earnest for New Rose Theatre (Portland), On the Verge for Different Stages Co. in Austin, and A Comedy of Errors on Austin’s Zilker Park Stage. In recent years, Peter has focused on graphic design, arts marketing, and entrepreneurial projects including founding and operating an art supply store in Portland.
Jamie L. Suter (Costume Design) holds a BA in Theater Design and Technical Production with concentrations in Costume Design and Directing from Marymount Manhattan College in NYC, studying under Broadway professionals Gail Brassard, Liz Covey, and Bob Anton. Notable credits include Costume Design for The Wonder!: A Woman Keeps a Secret (T. Schreiber Studio), Assistant to the Costume Designer for Sweeney Todd (Avery Fisher Hall), Assistant Costume Designer for The Lucky Chance (Theresa Lang Theater), Director/Costume Designer for Seven Femmes (Rathskeller Studios), and Costume Designer for The Lost Cabaret (NYC Fringe Festival). Jamie joined the Civic staff in 2018, her first design on stage being Present Laughter in the Studio Theatre. She loves being part of the fun and frivolity of live theater and is incredibly happy to do that at her home away from home, Spokane Civic Theatre.
Kimberly Roberts (Lighting Design) formerly served as resident lighting designer at Ignite! Community Theater. Her recent Civic credits include lighting designer for Amadeus, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Jersey Boys, and director for A View From The Bridge with 2024’s Readers’ Theater series.
Jeremy Wissing (Sound Engineer and Board Operator) is excited to be working on another Civic show after working on CATS last season.
Bryan D. Durbin (Lighting Programmer, Master Electrician) has a BA in theatre and is very excited to be back as Civic’s master electrician and lighting designer following the long hiatus. “I want to thank my family Heather, Evie, and Abby for all of their support.”
Alexei Snow (Light Board Operator) is excited to support Civic and local theatres. Recently he worked in backstage as Fly Coordinator for The Addams Family, Light Board Operator for CATS, A Sherlock Carol and Alice by Heart, Deck Chief for Jersey Boys (all with Civic) and Crew for Red (Stage Left). “I would like to thank my life partner Adam Snow and dear friend Sarah Dahmen for showing me the delight of collaboration and teamwork that is theatre.”
Adam Snow (Properties) is a detail-driven person with experience in various aspects of theater design. Favorite and recent credits with Civic include stage manager for CATS, A Sherlock Carol and Alice by Heart, and backstage crew for The Addams Family. When not working in design, Adam can be writing, creating art, petting their cats, and adventuring with their partner. “I’m excited and honored to collaborate at Civic once again!”
Joshua Baig (Carpenter) is a graduate of the Eastern Washington University Theatre department and Spokane Falls Community College Theatre. Recent favorite credits include Paul Roms in Important Hats of the Twentieth Century (Upstart Players) and Sebastian in The Tempest (EWU Theatre). Last season Josh made his Civic directorial debut with Civic Academy’s The Comedy of Errors. He is excited to follow that up with directing Romeo and Juliet on the Main Stage in 2025.
Denny Pham (Carpenter) holds a BA in Theatre from Eastern Washington University in Acting (Stanislavsky, Michael Chekhov and Shakespeare), and Technical Theatre with focus in Scenic Design and Lighting. He was awarded a Merit of Acting from the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival for his role as Doctor Nemur in Flowers for Algernon. He is a technical theatre veteran with 10 years of experience working professionally and locally in over 115 productions both on and off stage. Favorite credits Acting: Dennis Ziegler in This Is Our Youth, Caliban in The Tempest, Trekkie Monster in Avenue Q; Scenic Design: Cabaret, The Play That Goes Wrong, Murder on the Orient Express; Lighting Design: Chicago.
