Falls Arts Preview: A season full of comedy, dance and theater

Comedy, dance, theater – no matter your interest or age, there is plenty to see in the coming months. Here’s what’s coming to town this fall.

Today-Sept. 29 – Ignite Community Theatre, 10814 E. Broadway Ave., Spokane Valley, presents “See How They Run.” $13-$15 through Brown Paper Tickets.

Today-Oct. 13 – Spokane Civic Theatre, 1020 N. Howard St., opens its season with Roald Dahl’s “Matilda: The Musical.” $15-$35 through spokanecivictheatre.com.

Wednesday – Sunset Story Slam, with the theme sibling rivalry, takes over the Lucky You Lounge basement. Free.

Thursday – Are You Afraid of the Dark featuring Evah Destruction and local queens at the Pin, 412 W. Sprague Ave. $15-$30 through Eventbrite.

Sept. 19-21 – The “Full Throttle Comedy Tour” brings Michael Quu to the Spokane Comedy Club, 315 W. Sprague Ave. Prices vary; spokanecomedyclub.com.

Sept. 21 – Spokane Aerial will perform at the Bing with AirAligned and Sherrie Martin. $27 through bingcrosbytheater.com.

Sept. 22 – Kings and queens perform food-themed songs at the Pin during “Pig Out at the Pin.” $5/21 and older; $10/ages 20 and younger through Eventbrite.

Sept. 26 – Comedian Demetri Martin brings his “Wandering Mind” tour to the Fox. $39.75 through foxtheaterspokane.org.

Sept. 27-Oct. 20 – Spokane Civic Theatre will produce “The Book of Will” in the Firth J. Chew Studio Theatre. $25 through spokanecivictheatre.com.

Sept. 28 – The South Asia Cultural Association hosts 25 artists, including an orchestra, who will present a dance-drama in Kuchipudi style at the Bing. $25.15 through bingcrosbytheater.com.

Sept. 28 – Celebrate the local arts community at the Spokane Arts Awards at Lucky You Lounge. $30 for the party or $75 for a pre-ceremony dinner, through Eventbrite.

Sept. 28 – Actor/comedian Mark Curry (“Hangin’ With Mr. Cooper”) headlines two shows at the Spokane Comedy Club. $20-$28 through spokanecomedyclub.com.

Sept. 28 – Drag Roulette, at the Pin, features local queens performing a song that’s selected for them right before they take the stage. $10 through Eventbrite.

Sept. 28 – Each first and last Saturday of the month, Blue Door Theatre, 815 W. Garland Ave., holds “After Dark,” a mature audience version of its earlier show “Safari.” Not recommended for ages 15 and younger. $8 at the door.

Sept. 29 – “RuPaul’s Drag Race” brings its “Werq the World” tour, featuring Asia O’Hara, Detox, Kameron Michaels, Kim Chi, Naomi Smalls, Plastique, Violet Chachki and Yvie Oddly, to the Fox. $55-$165 through foxtheaterspokane.org.
