Students will cultivate the skills they need to audition for a musical. Skills include selecting the right song to show student at their best, developing several different ways to prepare that song, and knowing etiquette and what to expect at the audition. Students will get the most out of this class if they bring sheet music for a song (or two!) that they are already working on or that they’re interested in working on.

Students will explore acting through the structure of scenes; engaging in relationship, given circumstances, objective, and character. This course takes a conservatory approach to acting training through focused exploration of breath, voice and body connection.

Students will explore various approaches to the art of playwriting from idea to paper.

Singing and the ability to use the voice as an expressive instrument are an essential part of an actor’s skill set. Explore tools and techniques designed to help singers tell the story of a song more effectively.

Please prepare 32 bars of two contrasting songs that demonstrate your vocal abilities and personality. Please bring prepared sheet music (an accompanist will be provided) or an instrumental track on a device with a 3.5mm audio jack/aux.
