The Benefits of Civic

Reserve one of our benefit nights and generate additional revenue for your organization. The production will be yours for the night. You will have full use of our lobby space to conduct other fundraising activities such as: auctions, contests, a wine-tasting or product sales. Obtain a banquet license and sell beer and wine at your event, or include it in your ticket price.

Organizations who take advantage of our benefit offerings often find that it is their most successful fundraiser all year. With that in mind, remember that these events go quickly, so you will want to secure your spot as soon as possible.

Pool Your Resources

If you think your organization is too small to handle the cost of producing a benefit, consider doing what like-minded groups have done in the past. You can team up with another group, pool your funds and cut costs while both groups profit from the benefit. Many organizations return to Spokane Civic Theatre every season to utilize all that we have to offer.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do the benefits work?  Your organization decides on a performance date, confirms availability, submits the $250 security deposit, signs the agreement, pays the Civic fee and sells tickets directly to your donors and guests.

How much do we have to sell the tickets for?  Tickets must be sold at a rate equal to or higher than Civic Full Price Adult ticket rates.

Does Civic provide the tickets?  Creating and selling the tickets is the responsibility of the benefit organization.  Civic is happy to help provide helpful information that should be included on tickets.

How many seats in the theatre? There are 339 seats, including four handicapped seats.

If we sell all the seats, how much can we expect to make?  Please keep in mind this varies per show.  Generally, a sellout performance would net you $4,000 – 6,000 (after paying Civic fee).  That doesn’t include fund-raising activities in the lobby.  Many organizations seek sponsors to cover a portion of or the entire Civic fee, which substantially increases your proceeds.

When do have to pay?  Civic requires 50% payment 60 days prior to the event and the balance is due 10 days prior to the event.

What time does the performance start? All Civic benefit performances start at 7:30 P.M.  Doors open into the theatre at 7:00 P.M.

When can we have access to the Main Stage Lobby for setup?  You will have access starting at 4:00 P.M.

Do you sell alcoholic beverages or do we need to get a event license?  If you would like to have alcoholic beverages at your event, you will need to obtain an event license from the WSLCB approximately 60 days prior to the event.

Does Civic provide promotional materials?  Civic can provide a digital copy of the production artwork for you to use.

Do we have to provide ushers?  Civic will have one Staff member, Front of House Manager and Ushers to assist your guests and make sure your event runs smoothly.  You are required to provide your own ticket takers, food/beverage servers and fund-raising activity personnel.

How much time do we have to talk from the stage?  You may have up to five minutes prior to the start of the performance to welcome guests and provide a brief narrative about your organization.  Please bear in mind that we will require that everyone be seated at 7:25 P.M. to allow for your curtain speech.

Does Civic provide programs?  Civic provides programs.  You may add an insert to the program.  All inserts must be removed from any unused programs.

Does Civic provide anything else?  Civic is happy to provide coffee and soda fountain drinks for your guests.  Please note that no glass or food products are allowed in the theatre.  Only plastic glasses are allowed in the theatre.  Up to four 8’ tables will be provided for your fund-raising and food/beverage lobby activities.  You need to provide your own linens, plates and plastic cutlery.

If we have more questions?  Just ask Jim!  Civic will do all we can to make your event enjoyable for your guests and whatever else required to assist you in making your event a great success.
