Spokane Civic Theatre is your local community theatre! Below are the upcoming auditions for our 2016-17 productions!

Spokane Civic Theatre's actors range from first-timers to professionals! That's what makes a community theatre so vibrant and diverse.

Preparation 

Guidelines for preparation are provided for each production below.

For musicals: Please bring a copy of your sheet music. We will provide an accompanist.

Scripts can be checked out to read, either in the building for free, or you may take a copy of the script home for $20 CASH* [refundable upon return prior to first audition during regular business hours]. One hour advance notice of take-home check out appreciated.

Roles

Lead Characters (largest amount of lines)

DR. JULIAN WINSTON: Male, late 30’s - early 50’s

The dentist; a charming, long-time bachelor and former playboy, Julian is ready to settle down with young Toni, the love of his life; he gets caught up in a lie of his own making (that he’s married) and creates a wonderful mess as the lies double, twist, and unravel

 

STEPHANIE DICKINSON: Female, mid-late 30’s - 40’s

The dentist’s trusty assistant; an ‘old maid’ who is considered rigid, somewhat plain but effective in her job; she is firm and direct; but when she gets wrapped up in Julian’s scheming, we get see her more open and passionate side

 

TONI SIMMONS: Female, 18 - mid 20’s

The love interest; young, passionate and a bit naïve, Toni is madly in love with the ‘older man’ dentist who she’s told is a married man; she wants to marry him but won’t rest until she knows his ‘wife’ is going to be okay with the ‘divorce’; she’s a hopeless romantic and at times a bit flighty; works at the local record store

 

IGOR SULLIVAN: Male, 18 - late 20’s

The boy next door; Toni’s next door apartment neighbor and an aspiring playwright; literally the nice-looking boy-next-door who meets and befriends Toni; full of wit, bouncing between hokey dad jokes and sly sarcasm

 

Secondary Characters (featured and have lines in multiple scenes)

HARVEY GREENFIELD: Male, 30’s - 50’s

Julian’s friend and client; a weasel of a man; bombastic and a bit sleazy, he’s always ready to take advantage of his friends’ generosity

 

SENOR ARTURO SANCHEZ: Male, mid-30’s - 50’s

Julian’s client; a suave and well-dressed/rich South American (Latino appearance); afraid of having his teeth worked on but has an eye for Stephanie, the dentist’s assistant


MRS. DIXON DURANT: Female, 50’s +

Julian’s client; a society matron; hoity-toity, vain and quite rich

 

Ensemble (may have a few lines in various scenes; will likely be doubled with Secondary or other Ensemble characters)

BOTICELLI’S SPRINGTIME: 18 - 30’s

Harvey’s girlfriend; great figure but not the sharpest tool in the shed
